"Bio Green Shield" is a plant-based biodegradable dust control agent that serves as an alternative to blue sheet coverings (registered with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism: KT-220203-A). The previous dust control measures using blue sheets have challenges such as the labor involved in installation and removal, scattering in strong winds, and CO₂ emissions associated with disposal after use. This product suppresses dust scattering by applying a diluted solution at a rate of 1.5 to 2.5 liters per square meter. Being plant-based, it biodegrades after use, eliminating the need for disposal. Using the Carbon Footprint (CFP) as an indicator, a quantitative assessment of environmental impact revealed that this product can achieve up to approximately 40% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to blue sheet coverings. CFP is a system that converts the amount of greenhouse gases emitted throughout the entire lifecycle of a product or service—from "raw material procurement" to "manufacturing, distribution, use, disposal, and recycling"—into an easily understandable figure expressed in terms of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. Currently, the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization (SuMPO) is responsible for operating the CFP program. This assessment utilizes "ASUENE LCA," developed by SuMPO and Asuene Co., Ltd.
