JGC Global applies 3D-printed foundation formwork.
[News] Construction period shortened by half with basic formwork using 3D printers!
◆Application at the construction site of a biomass dedicated power generation facility in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture On December 14, 2022, JGC Global Corporation (hereinafter referred to as JGC Global) announced the application of a foundation formwork created using a 3D printer at the site of the biomass dedicated power generation facility in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, which was contracted for construction by JGC Corporation. ◆Formwork construction completed in half the time JGC Global installed a gantry-type concrete construction 3D printer manufactured by COBOD of Denmark at the site. Using materials commonly available at general construction sites, such as cement and aggregates, they demonstrated the outdoor creation of foundation formwork made of mortar and concrete mixed on-site. In this demonstration, conventional methods were also employed simultaneously. While the conventional method took 16 days, including backfilling work, the use of the 3D printer eliminated the need for on-site formwork assembly and demolding, allowing for the completion of formwork construction in a target of just 8 days, half the time. JGC Global aims to continue introducing on-site 3D printers in collaboration with domestic and international companies. *You can download our catalog of formwork-related products from the link below.
