◆First Virtual PPA Contract in the Construction Industry Tokyu Construction Co., Ltd. and Clean Energy Connect Co., Ltd. announced on December 22 that they have signed a contract for a virtual PPA targeting construction sites, the first of its kind in the construction industry. ◆Achieving Goals with Virtual PPA With this contract as a starting point, Clean Energy Connect plans to develop a total of 4 MW-DC (45 locations) of Non-FIT low-pressure solar power plants for Tokyu Construction's construction sites by March 2023, selling the generated electricity in the wholesale electricity market. Furthermore, through the virtual PPA contract, Clean Energy Connect will provide the environmental value of renewable electricity to Tokyu Construction for 20 years. This is expected to generate the environmental value of approximately 4.4 million kWh of electricity annually through renewable energy, resulting in a reduction of about 1,900 tons of CO2. A virtual PPA refers to transactions that involve only this type of environmental value. Tokyu Construction has joined RE100 and aims to achieve 100% renewable energy for all business electricity, including construction sites, by 2030. Therefore, it plans to continue utilizing virtual PPA services to realize this goal.
