Koganei Achieves a Consistent System IHI Rotating Machinery Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as IRM) announced on December 26, 2022, that it would transfer the design, sales, parts sales, and after-sales service operations of its lubrication equipment to its manufacturing contractor, Koganei Co., Ltd. Since Koganei has been responsible for the manufacturing of IRM's lubrication equipment for approximately 60 years, this transfer will establish a consistent system from manufacturing to after-sales service for the lubrication equipment. This is expected to enhance customer satisfaction and promote business growth. The contract regarding this transfer was concluded on November 30. Additionally, it was specified that system design, piping design, and plant-related operations would be excluded from the transfer, with the transfer's effectiveness scheduled to commence on January 5, 2023. Focusing Resources on Core and Strategic Businesses IRM's lubrication equipment has contributed to the automation of grease lubrication and has been used in machinery for industries such as transportation, chemicals, and construction, as well as in water turbines, general machinery, and automobiles. However, the outlook for future prospects has become uncertain. Furthermore, the company has decided to concentrate its resources on core and strategic businesses as part of its structural reform aimed at fiscal year 2030, leading to the decision to transfer this model to Koganei.
