Suzuki & Co. promotes carbon neutrality at construction sites.
[News] Suzuyo Construction begins visualization of CO2 emissions at construction sites.
◆Provision of "EcoNiPass" to Suwa Construction On December 23, 2022, Suwa Shoji Co., Ltd. announced that it has provided the CO2 visualization platform service "EcoNiPass" to Suwa Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Suwa Construction) and has started "visualizing CO2 emissions" at Suwa Construction's construction sites since December 1. In the construction industry, efforts are being made, in collaboration with the Japan Federation of Construction Contractors, to reduce CO2 emissions during the construction phase and to mitigate CO2 emissions during the operational phase in the design stage. ◆Aiming for Scope 3 Measurement With the introduction of "EcoNiPass," the CO2 emissions and reduction activities during the construction phase will be monitored. To this end, EcoNiPass has been trialed at two construction sites, focusing on the fuel used by construction machinery and equipment, as well as the electricity consumed in site offices, to begin "visualizing CO2 emissions." In the future, based on the information obtained from the trial introduction, EcoNiPass will be improved for the construction industry, aiming to expand measurement to include not only Scope 1 and 2 but also indirect emissions under Scope 3. Furthermore, proposals for CO2 reduction at construction sites, such as fuel alternatives and the introduction of renewable energy, will also be made.
