◆Aisin and Two Other Companies Propose Joint Project On February 9, Aisin Corporation announced that its joint proposal with Taisei Corporation and Toho Gas Co., Ltd., titled "Regional Carbon Recycling Project Using CO2 Concrete Fixation Technology," has been selected for support by Aichi Prefecture's "Aichi Carbon Neutral Strategy Council." ◆Building a Supply Chain in the Three Tokai Prefectures The project aims to produce calcium carbonate (CaCO3) from CO2 and fix it in concrete, establishing a carbon recycling supply chain in the three Tokai prefectures of Aichi, Gifu, and Mie. CO2 will be captured from exhaust gases from factories, and this CO2 will react with calcium components (CaO) from waste to produce CaCO3, which will be used as a raw material for concrete. In this project, Aisin Corporation will produce and ship CaCO3 by reacting CO2 with CaO, while Taisei Corporation will fix CO2 in concrete using CaCO3 as a raw material. Additionally, Toho Gas Co., Ltd. will utilize customer touchpoints to collect and deliver CO2 and waste. The three companies aim to contribute to carbon neutrality with the support of Aichi Prefecture, targeting commercialization in the late 2020s.
