"OpenComm" is a bone conduction Bluetooth wireless headset manufactured by Shokz (formerly AfterShokz). It can connect to smartphones, radios, transceivers, and intercoms via Bluetooth for voice calls. Transmission is done through an SP noise-canceling boom microphone, which minimizes surrounding noise. The boom microphone is ON when lowered and OFF when raised. Since reception is through bone conduction, sounds in the mid to high frequency range corresponding to human voices can be heard clearly. It is equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) functionality, allowing pairing simply by bringing it close to compatible devices. If used with radios, intercoms, or transceivers, separate pairing settings are required. It has an IP55 dust and water resistance rating.
