[Case Study] Mitigating the Risk of Drinking Water Loss in a Water Distribution Reservoir Where Installing an Emergency Shutoff Valve is Difficult
Introduction of a case that cleared the issue of installation space for emergency shut-off valves and eliminated the risk of drinking water loss.
In Nakatsugawa City, there was no space around the Okute water reservoir in the Ochiai area of the water supply system, and acquiring nearby land was also difficult, which led to a deadlock in the installation of emergency shut-off valves. Therefore, an underwater emergency shut-off valve "NCS-A-150" was installed in one of the two water reservoirs on the outflow pipe inside the reservoir. By installing the valve controller at the top of the reservoir, we were able to clear the issue of installation space without acquiring land. As a result, we were able to eliminate the risk of drinking water loss due to pipeline damage caused by disasters such as earthquakes. 【Overview】 ■ Location: Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture ■ Implementation Period: Fiscal Year 2017 ■ Construction Summary - Installation of underwater emergency shut-off valve NCS-A-150 in a two-tank reinforced concrete water reservoir with a capacity of 300m3 in Nakatsugawa City water supply system. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
