A case where a PDCE lightning ball equipped with a function to prevent lightning strikes was installed, successfully getting through the winter of 2024 without any accidents!
We would like to introduce a case where "PDCE" units were installed on transmission towers for the Electric Power Department of Kamioka Mining Co., Ltd., which operates a hydropower plant. In August 2019, a transmission line in the mountains was struck directly by lightning. A lightning surge flowed into the substation, causing damage to some of the equipment. In the winter of 2023, lightning struck again on a transmission line in the high mountains, resulting in significant operational challenges such as securing personnel for recovery and arranging alternative measures due to the damage caused by the lightning strike. After hearing about the achievements of other operators who have implemented PDCE on transmission towers, the company decided to adopt it as soon as possible and installed it on all 25 transmission towers, each 40 to 50 meters tall.
