After just one month since its opening, the park became notorious for being "covered in dust." After renovations, there is no dust, and the surface is better than when it first opened!
Sumida Skateboard Park" located in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, is a long-awaited park for skaters that opened in April 2024. However, shortly after its opening, concrete dust began to emerge, leading to harsh criticism from skaters on social media, prompting inquiries from concerned officials in Sumida Ward. During the renovation work, we used six times the usual amount of seal hardener for new constructions, resulting in a smooth, dust-free surface. Not only did it restore the surface to a slick finish, but it also created a durable surface with wear resistance and rainwater resistance! After the work was completed, the officials praised us, saying, "The surface has changed dramatically! The finish of the skate park surface is truly important.

Seal Hard Skate Park Renovation Specifications - Surface Concrete Grinding: The surface irregularities will be ground down using a large grinder made by the American company STI. - Joint Leveling Grinding: The uneven joint areas will be ground down using a medium grinder to level the height and eliminate the step. - Joint Filling Repair: Joints that were 10-20mm wide will be filled with American-made fast-setting repair mortar. - Surface Depressions Resin Filling Repair: Areas that remain depressed after grinding will be coated with a special resin made in the USA. - Surface Concrete Finishing Grinding: Final grinding will be done to achieve a smooth surface. - Application of Penetrating Surface Hardener Seal Hard: This will enhance wear resistance and create a surface that can withstand wear from skateboarding. - Application of Penetrating Water Absorption Suppressant AquaPel Plus: This will suppress rainwater penetration and prevent surface deterioration due to rain. - Skateboard Test Run Confirmation: The finished surface will be tested with a skateboard to confirm that it provides the necessary grip for skateboarding. The penetrating concrete surface hardener was weak against rain and had low effectiveness outdoors. Therefore, by combining diamond grinding with the water absorption suppressant "AquaPel Plus," we have addressed this weakness and developed a method specifically for skate parks, which is currently under patent application.

However, the penetrating hardener is vulnerable to rainwater; when exposed to rainwater, the penetrating components can dissolve and wash away.

Aquapel Plus is a hybrid water-repellent material based on silane and siloxane, which initially repels water like beads after application. It compensates for the weaknesses of Seal Hard, which is vulnerable to rain, and transforms it into strong, rain-resistant concrete.

[Test Run Confirmation] If too much Aqua Pearl Plus is applied, the grip will weaken and cause sliding during turns. Therefore, a staff member skilled in skateboarding will conduct a test run on a skateboard to check the resistance while sliding and the grip during turns. If any issues are found during the confirmation, adjustments will be made through re-cleaning with a polisher or polishing.
