Deterioration began one year after the new installation, so renovations were made before significant deterioration progressed!
The "NIX Urban Sports Park" was established in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture in 2023. It is a park supervised by Kaede Nakayama, a bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics. During the construction of the new facility, a permeable surface hardener from another company was used for the concrete surface finish. However, after one year, surface deterioration began, and it became rough. When we proposed the Seal Hard SKP specification to the design team at NiX JAPAN, they decided to take action before significant deterioration progressed, and we proceeded with the construction. Since the area from the entrance fence to the first joint was left unconstructed, it allows for comparison and observation between the constructed and unconstructed areas. Although only one year had passed since its opening, the surface has been finished to a quality exceeding that of the original construction!

Seal Hard Skate Park Renovation Specifications - Surface Concrete Grinding: The surface irregularities will be ground down using a large grinder made by American company STI. - Joint Leveling Grinding: The uneven joint areas will be ground down using a medium-sized grinder to level the height and eliminate the steps. - Joint Filling Repair: Joints that were 10 to 20mm wide will be filled with American-made rapid-setting repair mortar. - Surface Depressions Resin Filling Repair: Areas that remain depressed after grinding will be coated with a special resin made in the USA. - Surface Concrete Finishing Grind: A finishing grind will be performed to achieve a smooth surface. - Application of Penetrating Surface Hardener Seal Hard: This will enhance wear resistance and create a surface that can withstand wear from skateboarding. - Application of Penetrating Water Absorption Suppressor AquaPel Plus: This will suppress rainwater penetration and prevent surface deterioration caused by rainwater. - Skateboard Test Run Confirmation: The finished surface will be tested with a skateboard to confirm that it provides the necessary grip for skateboarding. The penetrating concrete surface hardener was weak against rain and had low effectiveness outdoors. Therefore, by combining diamond grinding with the water absorption suppressor "AquaPel Plus," we have addressed this weakness and developed a method specifically for skate parks, which is currently under patent application.

【Seal Hard Application】 We will apply the penetrating concrete surface hardener "Seal Hard." With the effect of Seal Hard, the deteriorated concrete will gradually harden and transform. Since Seal Hard is a non-film-forming penetrating type, it will not peel off. However, the penetrating hardener is vulnerable to rainwater; when exposed to rainwater, the penetrating components can dissolve and wash away.

【Application of Aquapel Plus】 We will apply the penetrating water-repellent agent "Aquapel Plus." While Aquapel Plus may seem unnecessary for indoor skate parks, it is essential for adjusting grip even indoors.

[Test Run Confirmation] If Aqua Pearl Plus is applied too much, the grip feeling weakens and it may skid during turns. Therefore, staff skilled in skateboarding will conduct a test run on a skateboard to check the resistance during sliding and the grip feeling during turns. If any issues are found during the confirmation, adjustments will be made through re-polishing or cleaning with a polisher.
