The issue of smoking has been addressed for a long time, but many people likely associate it with the "health hazards caused by tobacco smoke." As the health risks of secondhand smoke have been recognized as a problem, society as a whole has moved towards promoting a smoke-free environment. The recent push towards smoking bans has been significantly influenced by the "Revised Health Promotion Act," which was fully implemented on April 1, 2020. The amendment to the law has led to a movement towards complete smoking bans in restaurants, offices, hotels, golf courses, other commercial facilities, public institutions, and public transportation, resulting in the removal of ashtrays that were previously installed in these buildings. Approximately 27.1% of men and 7.6% of women smoke regularly, which affects a large number of smokers.
