【Site Information】 Site Name: Kashiwa-no-ha Campus Technical Center Construction Project Location: Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan Design and Construction: Kajima Corporation Contractor: Yukawa Construction Co., Ltd. System Used: Large Wall Formwork System 'VARIO GT24 / Wall Formwork' In the Kashiwa-no-ha Campus Technical Center construction project, 'VARIO GT24 / Wall Formwork' was used. It is a non-separating formwork for constructing seismic isolation retaining walls, utilizing two types of panels: flat panels (W1200) and auxiliary panels (W150) to build a polygonal S-curve wall. Plywood with a thickness of 18mm, known for its hardness and strong rigidity, was used, specifically 'PERI Birch.' The site’s requirement was to "shorten the construction period," and by using 'VARIO GT24 / Wall Formwork,' the average height of the formwork (2630mm) could be constructed without separation, achieving a plan to erect a length of 40 meters in one day.

Applications/Examples of results
Customer Feedback: Construction Manager (at the time), Yukawa Construction Co., Ltd. This construction project included a complex polygonal section with an S-shaped retaining wall in the seismic isolation layer. By using the VARIO GT24 / Wall Formwork, we were able to carry out the construction with an average formwork height of 2630mm without separators, allowing us to plan for a construction length of 40 meters in one day. Initially, there were some challenges with the workforce, but as they became accustomed to the work, the construction speed increased. The assembly of the polygonal section proceeded smoothly, leading to a reduction in the overall schedule. The formwork plywood, PERI Birch, is thick (18mm) and very durable, allowing for multiple reuse when coated with a release agent. Additionally, during the assembly of the VARIO formwork, a construction instructor from PERI Japan came to provide guidance, enabling us to carry out the assembly on-site quickly (20 panels were assembled in one day). The assembly method only involved "hardware" and "screws," making it possible for technical trainees to take the initiative in assembling the formwork, resulting in the polygonal sections being constructed even better than expected. Furthermore, the construction speed for the polygonal sections matched that of the straight retaining walls.
