Comparison of moisture content in underfloor support timber

When the moisture content exceeds 20-25%, wood decay is more likely to occur.

We conducted an experiment on how completely dried wood is affected by the ventilation conditions under the floor in a test house. Initially, the moisture content rises as it absorbs moisture from under the floor, but in the case of having a "subfloor ventilation fan" installed, the moisture content of the posts stabilizes at around 20%, as shown in the graph in the image. It can be seen that the moisture content is about 5% lower compared to when there is no "subfloor ventilation fan." 【Test Overview】 <Comparison of Moisture Content in Subfloor Posts in the Test House> ■ Duration: May 24, 2003 - July 27, 2003 ■ Post Size: 105×400mm, measuring 3 posts, the graph shows the average moisture content of the 3 posts ■ Measuring Equipment: Sanko Electronic Research Institute Co., Ltd.
