Champagne Oak

Champagne Oak

Champagne Oak

In the interior of Champagne, France, in a deep, dark corner of the forest, a small workshop for barrels has been operating as a long-standing local industry. From this traditional barrel factory comes a completely new building material designed for Japanese architecture: Champagne Oak. With a grain reminiscent of Yakusugi, the beauty of its deep orange-hued wet color, and its reaction to finishes that sometimes shift to a brownish color accompanied by blackened gold, it possesses textures and characteristics that are distinctly different from commonly known oak. An elegance reminiscent of antiques will provide a beautiful depth to the space.
