Bordeaux Pine Flooring #140HH
Heavy and wild. An outsider of coniferous trees arriving from the west coast of France.
20x140x2,000mm 4 sheets/case #140HH has a surface finish that closely resembles the Japanese "chouna." In addition to enjoying the play of light and shadow, it also pairs exceptionally well with tatami.
basic information
The French beach resort overlooking Biscay Bay is also home to the largest reforestation area in Europe. The Bordeaux pine, known as French Maritime Pine, is a marine species closely related to the Japanese black pine and is a native species of the region. It takes four times longer to grow than the average lifespan of red pine found inland, and due to the harsh conditions of the marine climate exposed to strong winds, it has acquired an exceptional hardness and dynamic appearance that is beyond standard for softwood flooring. Locally in France and in Paris, it has long been cherished as a product of local consumption, and due to its durability and the beauty of its aging, it is a product that has accompanied people's lives for generations through refinishing rather than replacement. It has been many years since we began handling Bordeaux pine in Japan. We have refined the cost performance unique to direct imports, and we hope you will continue to enjoy this material in the future.
