Explanation of the content and results of the weather resistance tests of the Obi cedar and tests conducted at a 90° installation, assuming wall surfaces!
Miyazaki, including the Obi cedar area, is a prefecture that boasts the highest production of cedar in Japan. To address the challenges arising from this abundant forestry resource reaching or surpassing its harvest period and increasing in diameter, the Wood Utilization Technology Research Center, commonly known as the "Wood Technology Center," was established in April 2001. On a vast site of 3.2 hectares, six buildings with different construction methods are arranged, each used for research and experimentation. They actively utilize locally produced cedar in their structures, exterior walls, sashes, floors, and fittings, serving as a model for long-term observation in practical use. Additionally, the yard within the site functions as an exposure testing ground, allowing for the verification of the weather resistance of wood and coatings under various conditions. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links.
