Wide Area Weather Monitoring Alert KIYOMASA DeGuard
Monitor meteorological disaster risks that cannot be captured with pinpoint accuracy in a designated area (surface) and issue alerts.
◆Guard any area with a polygon! The site can set a designated area, and if a forecast is issued indicating that precipitation, wind speed, lightning, or tornado risk exceeds the set threshold within that area, an alert notification will be sent. In road and railway construction, monitoring is supported along the construction section. In dam and river construction, monitoring areas can include watersheds, catchment areas, and upstream river basins to assist in determining work stoppages due to rainfall or strong winds. ◆Guard with administrative boundaries! You can set administrative boundaries such as districts, towns, and prefectures as monitoring areas. (It is also possible to register multiple municipalities as a single area.) Along with the areas where warnings and advisories are issued, you can monitor heavy rain and strong winds within that area, enabling early safety measures and reporting actions on-site. ◆Guard step by step! With DeGuard, you can set multiple monitoring areas or establish thresholds with different levels within the same area. In river construction, a wide catchment area can be set as the first monitoring area, while a river basin closer to the site can be set as the second monitoring area. The wide area may have a significant time lag, but it allows for preparation for rising water levels, while the area closer to the site can be ready for immediate rises in the event of heavy rain.
basic information
**What is Degard?** Degard is a service that monitors precipitation, wind speed, and the risk of lightning and tornadoes in designated areas based on the forecast data from the pinpoint weather information "KIYOMASA PRO" for construction sites, and sends alert notifications. **Weather data that can be monitored:** - Precipitation for up to 60 minutes ahead: 1 km mesh, updated every 5 minutes - Precipitation for up to 36 hours ahead: 1 km mesh, updated every 30 minutes - Average wind speed for up to 36 hours ahead: 1 km mesh, updated every 30 minutes - Lightning risk for up to 60 minutes ahead: 1 km mesh, updated every 10 minutes - Tornado occurrence angle for up to 60 minutes ahead: 10 km mesh, updated every 10 minutes **Why is area-wide weather monitoring necessary?** The cause of heavy rain (guerrilla rain) and thunderstorms that occur in a short time is developed cumulonimbus clouds, which are relatively small-scale phenomena in the world of meteorology. Due to their size, which ranges from a few kilometers to several tens of kilometers, even when using 1 km mesh forecasts to monitor multiple locations, if clouds develop in the gaps between forecast points, they cannot be completely captured. By utilizing Degard, which allows for area-wide monitoring, it has become possible to implement comprehensive safety measures.
