Tiger Pile Ground Reinforcement Work for Commercial Facility Construction | Geotech
High-performance hybrid ground reinforcement method with building technology performance certification obtained.
In the construction of commercial facilities, ground reinforcement with reliable load-bearing capacity is required to ensure the long-term stability and safety of the building. Particularly in commercial facilities where diverse uses and users are anticipated, ground subsidence and differential settlement can lead to significant issues affecting the functionality of the facility and the safety of its users. Therefore, selecting a highly reliable ground reinforcement method suited to the characteristics of the ground is crucial. The Tiger Pile method is a soil-cement column method that uses a stepped steel pipe as the core material and has obtained architectural technical performance certification from the Japan Architectural Institute Foundation. By combining the material strength of steel pipe pile methods with the frictional force of column methods, this hybrid method compensates for the shortcomings of each method and demonstrates reliable high load-bearing capacity. The core material effect also enhances resistance to bending and shear forces during earthquakes, addressing ground unevenness. [Application Scenarios] - New construction of large-scale commercial facilities - Construction of stores and tenant buildings - Load support for parking lots and plazas - Weak ground and ground with liquefaction risk [Benefits of Implementation] - Improved stability of buildings due to high load-bearing capacity - Enhanced safety during earthquakes - Reduced impact from ground variability - Long-term maintenance cost reduction
basic information
【Features】 - Obtained architectural technical performance certification (GBRC Performance Certification No. 06-12 Rev. 4) - A hybrid method that combines the advantages of steel pipe pile construction and column construction - Improved resistance during earthquakes due to core material effects, reducing the impact of poor solidification - Wide applicability to ground conditions, accommodating N' 0.15 and surrounding ground average values of 0.6 and above - Exhibits 2 to 4 times higher load-bearing performance compared to general methods, depending on conditions 【Our Strengths】 Geotech provides "total ground services," offering a one-stop solution for all ground-related tasks, from ground surveys and reinforcement design/construction for new buildings to settlement correction work for existing structures and soil contamination investigations. With extensive experience and reliable technology, we create the future of cities from the ground up.

Applications/Examples of results
It can be applied to ground reinforcement measures for a wide range of buildings and structures. Even in humus soil where very soft ground and poor solidification due to organic matter are likely to occur, making conventional soil column design difficult, it enables reliable design and planning by considering the material strength of the core material (60-400 kN). When compared to general methods under the same ground conditions, the high load-bearing capacity significantly shortens the improvement length, allowing for a reduction in improved soil volume, solidification materials (cement-based solidifying agents), and generated residual soil volume to each be reduced to about one-fourth or less (design example: 27 columns, improved soil volume 37.11 m³ → 8.97 m³, solidification material 12t → 3.5t, residual soil volume 7.4 m³ → 1.8 m³). It achieves shortened construction periods and reductions in CO2 and exhaust gases from construction equipment, demonstrating excellent economic and environmental performance.
