Ground reinforcement work | The necessity to enhance design flexibility and ensure high standards of structural safety.
The necessity of ground reinforcement work to overcome harsh load conditions and uneven loading. The composite structure of stepped steel pipes and columns promises high bearing capacity and seismic performance.
In various construction plans, including detached houses, ensuring the structural safety of the ground that supports the foundation at a high level is essential for the longevity of buildings and asset protection. If appropriate reinforcement is not applied to weak ground with insufficient bearing capacity or sites with uneven loading, it can lead to structural tilting and exterior wall cracks due to differential settlement, resulting in a significant risk of building damage. The Tiger Pile Method is an advanced hybrid reinforcement technique that combines a robust stepped steel pipe as the core material at the center of soil cement columns. The frictional force on the column's surface and the high material rigidity of the steel pipe work synergistically to provide strong resistance against high ground pressure and shear and bending stresses during earthquakes, which are difficult to address with conventional column improvement methods. It thoroughly eliminates uneven settlement and dramatically enhances seismic performance. GeoTech Co., Ltd. has established a construction system that reliably reproduces the designed bearing capacity through digital measurement using construction management devices and strict quality control, fundamentally removing structural concerns even in harsh site environments. We support the construction of reliable foundation spaces.
basic information
This is an objective technical specification that has obtained the GBR performance certification (No. 06-12 Rev. 4) from the General Incorporated Foundation Japan Building Disaster Prevention Institute. The applicable targets are buildings with up to three stories, a eaves height of 10 meters or less, a total floor area of 8,000 m2 or less, and retaining walls with a height of 5 meters or less, corresponding to a design ground pressure of 300 kN/m2 or less. The column diameters are φ400, 500, and 600 mm, and the core material uses hot-formed stepped steel pipes (φ76.3 mm, φ114.3 mm) with enhanced adhesion, allowing for optimal design within a steel pipe length range of 0.5 to 8.0 meters.

Applications/Examples of results
It is ideal for foundation ground reinforcement applications for three-story residential buildings, small stores, and office buildings that require high bearing capacity. It is also widely used for ground measures for retaining walls and structures under 5 meters in height that experience uneven loads or significant horizontal forces. In challenging sites where conventional soil-cement improvement results in insufficient strength, and in structural design practices that prioritize uneven settlement and pull-out resistance during earthquakes, it is chosen as a reliable reinforcement solution that offers extremely high structural safety and design flexibility.
