Ground reinforcement work | Preventing soil contamination with small-diameter steel pipe piles without soil disposal and cement usage.

The method of using small-diameter steel pipe piles without cement prevents soil contamination such as hexavalent chromium. It achieves environmental protection and reduces on-site costs through no soil displacement and low-noise construction.

This proposal presents an environmentally conscious ground reinforcement solution using a small-diameter steel pipe pile method that emphasizes environmental conservation and sustainability in architectural planning. Proper ground reinforcement is essential to prevent differential settlement accidents in soft ground and to maintain the structural safety of buildings over the long term. The small-diameter steel pipe pile method employs a rotary penetration method that does not use any cement-based solidifying materials, completely eliminating the risk of harmful substances such as hexavalent chromium and preventing soil and groundwater contamination. Additionally, since no construction waste is generated from drilling, it reduces the costs of waste disposal and the hassle of off-site transportation, while preventing dust dispersion and mud-related issues during construction. The low-noise and low-vibration construction method takes into account the surrounding environment and protects the future value of land assets. The application range covers buildings up to three stories above ground and retaining walls, allowing for safe design through clear bearing capacity calculation formulas. At Geotech, we ensure high quality and reliable construction by tracking real-time data on torque and depth under ISO quality management standards.

basic information

This construction method is a cement-free rotary penetration pile method consisting of general structural carbon steel pipes with an outer diameter of φ89.1mm to φ216.3mm and special tip wings. The applicable targets are buildings with three stories or fewer, a height of 13m or less, and a total floor area of 1,500 square meters or less, as well as retaining walls and similar structures with a height of 3.5m or less. The maximum construction depth is 130 times the pile diameter (up to a maximum of 19.2m, etc.), accommodating various soil types such as sandy soil, clay, and loam layers. It has obtained public performance certification such as GBRC, and it is possible to calculate objective and reliable allowable bearing capacity based on the SWS test and the converted N value from the standard penetration test.

Applications/Examples of results

It is ideal for ground reinforcement work in buildings that require high environmental safety, such as single-family homes, rental apartments, kindergartens and daycare centers, medical facilities, and food factories. It is particularly effective in sites where there is a desire to avoid the risk of hexavalent chromium leaching due to cement-based solidifying agents, as well as in land where there is a goal to minimize soil contamination risks to zero in anticipation of future land resale or redevelopment. Additionally, it is introduced in foundation work in environmentally protected areas, densely populated residential areas, and urban areas, with the aim of reducing soil disposal costs while maintaining a clean site environment, especially where excavation waste generation and removal are difficult.
